BreathworkNotice your breath for a moment. Inhale... a tiny pause... exhale... another pause. Those pauses are our default. In circular breathing — we let them go.
Circular breathing is conscious breathing where the end of the inhale connects straight into the exhale, and the exhale rolls straight into the next inhale — one continuous circle. Around this simple technique, a whole approach called Rebirthing was built in the 1970s.
Because emotions we never expressed don't go anywhere. They're stored in the body — as tightness in the chest, a lump in the throat, tiredness with no explanation. Our mind excels at keeping them there: "not now," "you're overreacting," "pull yourself together."
Continuous circular breathing doesn't argue with the mind — it simply bypasses it. After a few minutes of unbroken breath the defenses soften, and what's stored begins to rise: sometimes a wave of sadness, sometimes laughter out of nowhere, sometimes just a pleasant trembling. You let it pass — and it passes. And after the release comes the part everyone falls in love with: deep calm, lightness, clarity.
In the method I work with, I add focused pressure on the body's energy centers during the breathing. Think of it as opening the door exactly when someone is already about to walk out: the breath floods the blockage, and the pressure helps it release. The combination deepens and speeds up the process in a way you have to feel to understand.
